Uses of inflatable packers in mining
Casing in Oil Well Construction
Casing strings are among the main parts of oil well drilling. The casing is majorly needed to ensure the stability of the borehole, to prevent the sand from being contaminated, to isolate or separate water from the produced formations, and to control the pressures of the well during the process of drilling and other operations during the drilling process.
Casing in oil wells is installed in layers. There are different types of casing strings that are used while drilling. They are surface casing, casing liner, conductor casing, intermediate casing, casing liner, and production casing.
The material used for the casing is carbon steel, and a repair in the casing can be done using casing repair packers, which ensures that the casing integrity is restored.
The casing costs are among the most important in the well cost, so the factors like the casing size, connectors, grade and setting depth should be considered while the casing is done for wells.
Casing strings
The six types of casing strings are:
1)Surface casing: Surface casing is done to isolate the water sands, for blowout protection and to prevent lost circulation. In this casing, the casing string is connected to the surface or the midline.
2)Conductor casing: The conductor casing is the string to which the casing head is generally installed. This is also the first string that is set below the structuring of the well.
3)Intermediate casing: Intermediate casing is set to separate or isolate problem zones like low-pressure zones, production zones, unstable hole sections and lost circulation zones.
4)Production casing: Production casing is used to separate production zones, and it can be exposed to the injection of the inhibitor oil and the injection pressure of the fracture works. The primary cement works are crucial for this string.
5)Liner casing: Liner casing strings are used instead of full strings to reduce the overall cost, and to improve the hydraulic performance while the drilling is done deeper.
5)Liner tieback string: The liner tieback string is set to provide additional pressure integrity during the process of casing. It is also used to separate a casing string that is not strong enough to take the pressure of continual drilling.
Other tools used during oil drilling are inflatable bridge plugs packers that can improve the efficiency and high-temperature packers of the oil drilling process.
